This is a personal research site. It does not require an account, it does not ask for your details, and it has nothing to sell you.
Analytics
I use analytics only to decide what to write about next: which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from at a country level, and how people arrive. I cannot identify individual readers from any of it, and I do not try to.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on Google's infrastructure. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.
To opt out, you can install the
Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
, block the domain googletagmanager.com in your
browser or an ad blocker, or use your browser's Do Not Track and
cookie controls.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
This site also runs Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page
views without setting any cookies and without building a profile
of you across sites. It loads a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com. I run it alongside
Google Analytics because ad and script blockers hide a large share
of readers from Google, and I would rather know roughly how many
people are actually here.
To opt out, block that domain in your browser or an ad blocker.
Advertising
This site does not currently display advertising. If that changes, this section will disclose the ad provider, the cookies involved, and how to opt out of personalised ads — before any ads appear.
Hosting
The site is served as static files by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request data (including IP addresses) to deliver pages and to protect against abuse.
Fonts
Body text uses a webfont served by Google Fonts, which means your browser
makes a request to fonts.gstatic.com when you load a page.
Links out
Posts link to data sources and other sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which I have no control over.
